About rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic and progressive disease in which the body's own immune system attacks healthy tissue in the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis (or RA) is characterised by inflammation of the joints, usually in the hands, wrists, knees or feet. Rheumatoid arthritis results in pain, stiffness, swelling, and can ultimately lead to irreversible joint destruction and disability.
